Capt. Doc’s Fishing Charters is honored to offer Burial at Sea services of cremated remains and scattering of ashes. The practice and history of burial at sea has been written among many different cultures and civilizations. The tradition has been used to honor the deceased, ensure harmony in the afterlife and pay respect to the sea.
We offer two packages:
Unattended:
If you or your family and friends cannot attend the ceremony, our Captain will conduct a dignified, honorable service that can include poems, prayers, music or readings of your choice. You may also connect to the service via cell phone, Facetime, or any other compatible streaming service. A complimentary video, pictures and burial certificate with latitude and longitude are included in the package. Wreaths, flowers or flower petals and biodegradable urns are available for an additional charge.
Attended:
Attendants of the service will meet at the Bolivar Yacht Basin on Bolivar Peninsula and depart for the ceremony site either in Galveston Bay or in the Gulf of Mexico. There, you may conduct a memorial service of your choice and style or have our Captain perform it for you. Please feel free to bring wreaths, flowers or flower petals to scatter as well. We provide complimentary ice and water along with a bluetooth speaker for any music you may choose. You can bring any adult beverages or snacks, we just ask that no glass containers be brought aboard the boat. After the scattering of the ashes and conclusion of the ceremony, we will bring you back to your car at the dock.
